Walgreens Diaper Deal

When I saw the almost free diapers at the beginning of July I ran to Walgreens! Multiple times! Within a couple week's time (I got rainchecks the first week) and 11 Walgreens later - I ended up with 114 packages of diapers! They ranged in size from Newborn to size 6!!

Here's the picture I submitted to one of the coupon boards I belong to:
After having these all sit in my basement for about 3 weeks - I sorted through them and kept some in each size (I'm 7 months pregnant - for those who don't know) for our personal use.

Then I took the other 80 packages to the food pantry at our church. They were SO grateful and amazed. They told me they get AT LEAST 1-2 calls PER DAY asking if they have any diapers.

I told them the deal was coming back around at the end of the month - and they sent me on a shopping spree for them! They reimbursed me for all out of pocket costs. See below on the details of what I've purchased for the pantry out of their donation money since I dropped off the diapers.

Not sure what I actually paid OOP on these - but most were just the tax.

Been focusing on shopping for the food pantry

So I notice I haven't posted in TWO WEEKS! Where has the time gone??

I haven't been shopping too much for myself lately - I've been donating my time and planning to helping out one of the local food pantries. I've provided them with a list of good deals, then they tell me how many of each item they'd like. I then pull out the coupons and do the shopping and they reimburse me for my out of pocket costs.

I didn't take pictures of all of the stuff (didn't want to haul it all inside to take a picture & then back out to the van to take to the pantry) but I did make a list of all the items & out of pocket costs.

Last week I was able to purchase (and be reimbursed for) & donate the following:
  • 50 tubes Colgate toothpaste
  • 56 Loreal Vive shampoo/conditioner
  • 6 pkgs Kotex pads
  • 30 Secret deoderant
  • 54 Herbal Essence shampoo/conditioner
  • 9 pkgs diapers
  • 30 Sure deoderant
  • 2 pkgsSchick disposable razors
  • 6 trial size Gillette body wash
I spent $90.38 out of pocket. $37.73 of that was tax (which the pantry was going to try and get back from the stores). They are submitting for $14.98 in rebates. They also had $16 in Register Rewards left to use.

$90.38
-37.73
-14.95
-16.00
$21.70 spent for all that stuff!!

They also have rebate forms and receipts to send in for 12 manicure or pedicures compliments of Herbal Essence!

I also donated the following to them from my stockpile extras:
  • 70 pkgs of diapers (I paid about $0.12 tax on each package)
  • 25 pkgs of marshmallows (estimate - didn't count - these cost me the $0.01 tax on each package)

In the last few days this is what I have gotten the following at Walgreens for the pantry:
  • 17 pkgs diapers
  • 33 pkgs pull-ups
  • 8 pkgs 100 ct wipes
  • 2 pkgs 40 ct wipes
  • 7 pkgs 300 ct wipes
  • 51 boxes Reynold's wrap
  • 22 - 2 pocket folders
  • 15 - 5 pks mechanical pencils
  • 2 highlighters
  • 3 bottles glue
  • 2 - 10 pk Crayola washable markers
I spent a total of $24.32 (using their tax exempt status). They will be able to send in for $4 in rebates. I also have $85 in Register Rewards for them to use! So after all is said and done - Walgreens PAID THEM $64.68 for all this stuff!!

The Register Rewards can be used towards future purchases at Walgreens and can also be used at Jewel because they are manufacturer coupons technically!

July 4th, 2008 - Walgreens

Nope - not even the 4th of July could stop me from doing the diaper deal at Walgreens! In fact, we were going to a neighboring town for the fireworks - so we went early and my mom and I hit 6 or 7 of the Walgreens in that town.

Our totals:
  • 27 packages of diapers
  • 4 Pediasure bars ($4.79, $4 in coupons - 2 different ones combined)
  • 6 calculators ($0.50 clearance - for the food pantry - school supplies)
  • 6 pk chalk ($0.50 clearance - to occupy the kids before the fireworks)
  • 2 Cutter bug spray ($1.50 ea - didn't have any at home)
  • 2 bottles of bubbles ($1.39/2 - to occupy before the fireworks)

July 3rd, 2008 - Walgreens & Jewel

I did the "diaper deal" more at Walgreens today. I also did the Kraft deal at Jewel. Here's my totals:

Walgreens
  • 15 packages diapers
$0.00 OOP. Paid $30.90 with Walgreens gift cards. Earned $25 in RR. Net $5.90.

Jewel
  • 10 Planters nuts ($2.50 ea, $3 coupon, (2) B3G $4 cat, B4G $5 cat)
  • 8 Kraft singles slices ($2.50 ea, FREE cpn)
  • 2 Jello ($0.50)

  • 2 gallons milk ($2.99)
Spent $3.08 OOP. Earned $21 in cats (used some to pay for next order).

July 2nd - Walgreens

Walgreens has a diaper deal going on right now. The Walgreens brand diapers are on sale for $5.99. There are also 2 coupons out for the diapers. One is for $5 when you buy 2 (this coupon takes off $2.50 for each package, even if you buy odd numbers) in the Easy Saver Rebate book. The other coupon is from a coupon booklet you get at the pharmacy when you ask about their Rx savings program. This is for $2 off each package. So in the end - You pay $5.99 less $4.50 in coupons = $1.49 per package. When you buy 3 packages, you get a $5 RR. So 3 packages at $1.49 = $4.47 plus tax. You end up only paying tax when you factor in the $5 RR. What a GREAT deal! I'll be stocking up this week for myself, as well as the food pantry at church (they are always getting calls asking for diapers).

Today I got:

  • 2 Boxes Honey Bunches of Oats cereal ($2.50 ea, Free coupon, $2 RR WYB 2)
  • 9 packages of diapers - 3 seperate orders ($1.49 ea after coupons, (3) $5 RR earned)
  • 2 packages kids vitamins ($1.59 ea clearance)
$0.00 OOP Paid $17.40 using Walgreens gift cards. Earned $17 in RR.

So after I get my $5 back - I will have gotten all of the above for nothing!
